The Journey
Seasoned in growth mindset instruction, Josh Hammer is a coach, educator, and advisor with experience developing athletes across NCAA Division I, Division II, high school programs, and collegiate athletics administration. His career has been built on one mission: helping people grow — as competitors, as leaders, and as human beings.

Want your audience fired up, smiling, and ready to run through a wall (or dance through one)? Hammer brings the perfect mix of motivation, mental performance, and pure joy. From dugouts to auditoriums, his message of leadership, resilience, and intentional energy inspires people to play bigger, live louder, and lead with heart.

Hammer currently serves as Vice President of Player Development for a growing baseball EdTech organization, where he designs national curriculum and helps shape a modern training app centered on mental skills, life skills, and advanced player development. He also hosts and produces a weekly YouTube show featuring respected coaches and educators from across the game. Known for his presence behind the microphone and his ability to energize any room, Hammer uses communication as a powerful tool to educate, motivate, and connect with players and audiences alike. His work reflects his reputation as a thoughtful teacher, creative communicator, and passionate mentor.
His coaching background includes a formative season with the Healdsburg Prune Packers during their 2021 California Collegiate League State Championship run. Working alongside players from nationally ranked programs such as USC, Oklahoma State, Texas, Cal, and Virginia, Hammer credits that championship environment as instrumental in shaping his philosophy on culture, competition, and player development.

Hammer began his coaching career in the Bay Area at Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School, where he helped guide the program to a league title and section championship appearance while also serving in teaching and administrative roles.

An NCAA Academic All-American and multi-time Academic All-PacWest honoree at Holy Names University, Hammer earned both his bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in Education. He was awarded the Presidential Founder’s Medal, and two perpetual awards were established in his honor in recognition of his leadership and lasting impact on the athletics department and campus community.

Hammer lives in West Sacramento with his wife Maria, their daughter Lola, and their dog Rudy.
